Shivangi Joshi has finally reacted to the statement she made inside Lock Upp – Sach Ya Sazaa about changing her name if Shreya Kalra won the reality show. Just over a day after Shreya lifted the trophy and Shivangi finished as the first runner-up, the actress clarified that the remark was made in anger and shouldn’t be taken literally.
Shivangi finished as the first runner-up while Shreya Kalra won the reality show after receiving the highest number of votes from ‘Janta Ki Jury.’ Speaking to the media after the finale, Shivangi explained the context behind her statement and said it was made in the heat of the moment.
Shivangi Joshi Clarifies Her ‘Name Change’ Remark On Lock Upp 2
During one of her arguments with Shreya Kalra inside the Lock Upp house, Shivangi had declared that she would change her name if Shreya went on to win the competition. Since Shreya eventually took home the trophy, the actress was asked whether she intended to keep that promise.
Responding to the question, Shivangi said, “People can say anything in anger. I was very angry at that time. Hence, I said it out of instinct. I love my name. Why would I change it? Shreya Kalra had also said in anger that she can eat human meat if given a chance to win the show. Will she do it in real life? No. I said that line in anger. I will not change my name. I love ‘Shivangi’.”
Shivangi Joshi Responds To ‘Backstabber Joshi’ Comment
Shivangi was also asked about Shreya Kalra referring to her as “Backstabber Shivangi” in a video recorded after the finale. In the clip, Shreya was watching her winning moment with friends when one of them asked what new name she would give Shivangi. She replied, “Backstabber Shivangi.”
Asked about the remark, Shivangi chose not to escalate the issue and said, “Like I said, when you are high on emotions, your intelligence stops working. We speak a lot of things in anger, which we actually don’t mean. I really like my name. We all are very good. We partied together last night at Farah Ma’am’s house.”

Lock Upp – Sach Ya Sazaa concluded after a six-week run with the winner being announced during the grand finale. Hosted by Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan, the finale saw Shreya Kalra lift the trophy after defeating finalists Shivangi Joshi, Yogesh Rawat, Shilpa Shinde and Ram Kapoor.
Following the finale, Farah Khan hosted a celebratory gathering at her Mumbai residence, where contestants from the show came together.
