Nearly 10 years after sliding into Priyanka Chopra’s Twitter DMs, Nick Jonas is taking a trip down memory lane. During a recent podcast appearance, the couple revisited their first-ever conversation and revealed how a simple message eventually turned into a lifelong partnership. During the conversation, Nick even revealed a screenshot of the DM he sent the actress.
Appearing on the Hey Jonas podcast, Nick said it was actually his brother Kevin Jonas who introduced him to her work. He shared that Kevin had asked him, “Have you seen this show Quantico? And there is this billboard of the show.” Curious, the singer searched for Priyanka on Twitter after getting home.
“So I go home and find you on Twitter to see if you follow me, which you did,” he recalled, though Priyanka playfully disagreed with that part of the story.
Then Came The First DM
Nick then revealed the first message he sent to the actress. This is what he wrote: “Hello, I have heard from a few people that we should meet. I have to agree with these people. Are you in LA anytime soon?”
Priyanka responded by moving the conversation away from social media. “Hey… Graham’s told me so much about you…. Let’s text, more private. My team can access this.”
How Their Friendship Turned Into Love
Priyanka also revealed that Nick wanted to be sure he was speaking to the real her before taking the conversation further. The global icon continued, “He wanted to corroborate that it was actually me. So he asked me for a photo, that moment looking into the camera with a time stamp. I appreciated it too. It was after a fashion show. I was cute that day.”
The pair continued texting but romance didn’t blossom overnight. “So we started texting. It wasn’t until a year and a half later that we started dating and then eventually we were engaged,” Nick said.
The couple eventually tied the knot in a grand ceremony at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur in 2018 and welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, via surrogacy in January 2022.
Nick Jonas’ Love For Bollywood Gossip
The podcast also featured a light-hearted conversation about Nick’s unexpected obsession with Bollywood gossip. Laughing about it, Nick admitted, “What I have loved most in these eight years is the Bollywood gossip.”
Priyanka agreed, saying, “It is true though. Even I don’t know if someone has broken up with someone but you do. It usually happens when I am texting someone and I say, ‘Hey, give my love to them,’ and he’s like, ‘No – they have broken up,’ and I am just like, ‘Haww.’ We can’t give names, these are our friends.”
Nick also confessed that he secretly follows several Bollywood gossip pages to stay updated. The singer continued, “There’s a couple of accounts that I ghost-follow. There’s some good tea; there’s always storylines you have to follow.”
On the work front, Priyanka will next be seen in SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi, alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
