Traditional wedding couture receives a modern makeover

Celebrity designer Rohit Bal presented Festive/Winter ’17 Collection “Balance” at the Indian Wedding Show Season 2. The subtle nuances of the collection highlight the intricacies of the embroidery. With ornate floral motifs and meticulous handwork, the outfits possess clean and sharp silhouettes which can add charm to any event one wears it to. The practicality of the toned-down couture wear astutely imparts a bold contemporary vibe to the bespoke collection.

Anju Modi

Designer Anju Modi showcased her luxury festive and couture collection 2017—Kaashi for this year’s Indian Wedding Show. The designer’s collection is inspired by the city of ethereal holiness and sanctity that recounts the essence of a land (Banaras). From its fabled delicate weaves, to its exquisite Mughal flower motifs woven in gold and silver, the Banaras fabrics are treasured the world over. Anju Modi celebrates the colours, weaves, crafts of the ethereal city Banaras and the luminous spirit of Kaashi in this particular collection. 

Aastha Wadhwa

The Indian wedding show saw the launch of a new designer Aastha Wadhwa where she showcased her collection AAWA—Light of Divinity , with Gauhar Khan as the showstopper. The designer for the very first time came up with the Indian collection which showcased the intricate details of Mughal architecture and the beautiful journey of light. The designer’s collection is inspired by the Mughal sense of style and lux ury. The collection celebrates myriad shades of the Indian heritage while presenting a divine confluence of traditionality and modernity. 

Ashima Leena

With Ashima Leena steadily moving in the direction of textile crafting, her collection at the event took the approach to the finest detail in geometric weaves to create patterns and appliqués that apply the principles of Mughal architecture, borrowing from garden layouts—graphic complications that are every bit indulgent, yet fuss free. Nuances of precision in dabka embroidery are juxtaposed against bold motifs, with a surprising splash of colour, while the restraint of beaded carnations bloom on tulle under lay with yards of foil.
