Mysore Fashion Week gets louder, bolder and flashier

Designer Asif Merchant showcased his latest collection on the first day. The collection was inspired by human moods and emotions and the ray of hope. This was translated on the runaway in the form of colours like black stood for sadness and darkness, white for purity and happiness, red was for anger and fuchsia pink portrayed mixed emotions. The collection had a myriad of designs from voluminous to structured gowns and tuxedo suits. Terence Lewis walked the ramp for the designer.

JAYABTHI BALLAL

Ace Designer Jayabthi Ballal presented Culture Meets Contemporary collection on the second day of the event. Although a traditional Kanchivaram never goes out of fashion, Ballal believes that a contemporary touch to these can change the entire look. This season JB brought her collection of timeless Kanchivarams that she showcased with the seamless blend of modern motifs. The collection also had cold shoulders and the rustic touch to the cholis took the ramp by storm. 

VIJAYA LAKSHMI

The label “VIJAYALAKSHMI Silks” speaks volumes about her design sensibility and thought process. Her cheerful designs are perfect for the conjugal season. The brand has always stood for the conservation of Indian legacy while adapting to the modern style.  Lakshmi’s couture fluidly weaves stories of the past into the present to suit the aspirations of the modern woman. Stunning Pranitha Subhash walked the ramp as a showstopper for Vijayalakshmi Silks.

ARCHANA KOCHHAR

The designer showcased “Melange” collection, which begins with a range of stunning red carpet evening gowns with structured ruffles and intricate cutouts. The collection further flowed into a beautiful ethnic contemporary feel with handcrafted Lucknowi lehengas and anarkalis in soft pastel pallets of ivory, peach, Tiffany blue and hues of black and gold. Indian Women’s Cricket team’s vice caption Harmanpreet Kaur was seen walking for finale show for the designer.
