Patterns inspired by nature at the Asian Designer Week ’17

Canadian fashion designer who was born in Afghanistan showcased her latest collection “Afghanistan-A Forgotten Land Collection” at ADW. The collection was inspired by vintage, ethnic Afghan inspired looks with a contemporary edge. Bright colours and gold hues were prominent in the collection. Nazila in her collection used floral prints and kept her statement designs alive while promoting today’s demanding trends.

Label Nandita Bist believes in constant experimentation with fabric, yarns and unconventional combination of materials to create unique textures. Detailing and innovative fabric manipulation techniques form the DNA of every garment she makes. The collection was focused more on the fusion of ethnic and western styles. Long shirt dresses, front slit kurtis in black and grey tint  were the highlights of the collection.

Salil Bhatia showcased his collection, “Pandoras Box”, a tribute to the great Alexander McQueen. Bhatia tries to bring to life the divine expressions of McQueen’s morbid fashion through his Fall’17 collection, which is all about evil flowing out of the doomed box into the world leaving us with hope. You will see insects crawling out of pockets, snakes sitting on lapels, bugs popping out of their burrows and leeches drinking on intoxicating fluids.

Next Gen designer Sarah Farhana from Bangladesh presented her latest collection, which has six different outfits displaying the colour of Bangladesh on a wide range of style in western, sub-traditional, Indian tribal and fusion. The collection is created using Katan fabric, handloom from famous Banarasi Polli of Mirpur Dhaka. Shades of pink and red were complimenting the design and also enhanced the beauty of the garment.
