Tuhina’s Bagru Banjara collection is about bright colours

House of Tuhina has launched their new collection — Bagru Banjara — inspired by the banjaras, the wandering tribe of the deserts. Believed to be descendants of the Roma Gypsies who migrated from the mountains of Afganistan to settle down in the deserts of Rajasthan, these tribes are known for their colourful costumes that effectively break the monotony of the shades of brown.
The collection uses fine detailing, collage patters on exclusive Rajasthani hand block prints. “My clothes are layered, to be worn as separates and also to be wrapped alongside more constructed shapes. The palette embodies the origins of the silk route,” says Tuhina.
