Marriott India turns wedding planner

Marriott India is offering their properties across India to customers, becoming the perfect hosts as they give you the opportunity to have a hassle-free wedding. The role of the bride and groom and their families is to simply enjoy the celebrations; everything else is left up to them. Titled “Future of Weddings”, we were offered a glimpse into the efficiency and class with which they could organise the most important event of your lives at JW Marriott, Chandigarh.
Centrally located in the city, the hotel hosted its premium wedding fair, “Shehnaai 2015”, in the last week of August, bringing together many established names from across industries. It was a one-stop destination for specialist weddings ranging from decorators to jewellers to trousseau designers, followed by in-house caterers. Spread across its vast expanse of 30,000 sq ft indoor and outdoor banqueting space, the exhibition showcased sample mandaps, potential decors, sitting dining areas and entertainment set-ups.
The finest vendors around all came together to cover every aspect of a wedding: Wedding Umbrella, a boutique styled consultancy and decor company, to offer an exclusive line of furnishings and decor, with a concentrated emphasis on sophistication, opulence, glamour and style; Talwar jewellers and Zaira Diamond to take care of the jewellery needs; Toni&Guy and Head Masters for styling requirements, while they were also giving trial treatments to assist guests to make up their mind. Joining the bloc was Porsche India, offering car options including the iconic 911 as well as the Boxster, Cayman, Macan, Cayenne and Panamera. They also had Soundtree for entertainment needs, and real estate companies to offer housing solutions to the newlyweds.
Mandira Virk launched her fantastic trousseau collection, a comprehensive mix of chic party wear, pre and post bridal attires and bridal lehengas designed in a simplistic yet effective manner. “My designs are practical. Most often, brides indulge in exorbitantly priced outfits that are rendered useless the moment the wedding is done. My idea is slightly different. I use light fabrics which are embellished with effective work that can be worn again at other important events. The idea for all my brides is that they should be free and able to enjoy their own wedding, rather than getting entangled and worrying about their look,” said Virk.
The idea is to collaborate with premium vendors in each city and offer a complete wedding service. The hotels have devised packages that range in price as per the requirements of the client, with deciding factors being the size of the gathering, the number of events being hosted and accommodation at the hotel.
