Across galleries and museums, Delhi’s art scene shifts this August

A new month brings with it a host of new art shows. We curate the best ones for you to see in Delhi-NCR.

1. MOOL by Exhibit320: This group exhibition curated by Shaleen Wadhwana brings together twenty artists from across South Asia to examine how personal memory, family histories and shared cultural inheritances shape our understanding of home. MOOL began with a conversation between artists Mahwish Chishty and Gunjan Kumar in the USA in 2016 when they discussed shared history, homes, families, communities. “A key aspect of the exhibition is the presentation of personal artefacts from each participating artist’s family, many displayed publicly for the first time,” says the curator, Wadhwana. Artists include Arpita Akhanda, Ashfika Rahman, Ashmina Ranjit, Bunu Dhungana, Chathuri Nissansala, Chudamani Clowes, Deena Pindoria, Gunjan Chawla Kumar, Hema Shironi, Mahwish Chishty, Mariam Suhail, Naira Mushtaq, Nilima Sheikh, Reena Saini Kallat, Riya Chandwani, Sheelasha Rajbhandari, Tayeba Begum Lipi, Wahida Ahmed, Yasmin Jahan Nupur, and Zarina. 2. Worlds Within Cloth: New Orders of Woven Making at National Crafts Museum: Curated by Sreyansi Singh, this exhibition brings together the work of 17 contemporary Indian artists and craft collectives which reimagine textile from its traditional role. She writes, “They demand focus towards textile’s unseen entanglements: the challenging socio historical dimensions, continuing selfcritique, experimental interdisciplinary approaches, and collaborative functions. Through long term research oriented works, artist craftsperson associations and exchanges, and large scale installations, the exhibition rearranges the artists role as a researcher, the craftsperson as an activist, the custodian as an educator and archivist.” The artists include Aadhyam Handwoven, Abraham & Thakore, Astha Butail, Boito, Chanakya School, Coonoor & Co., Jagriti Phukan, Jayeeta Chatterjee, Kardo, Morii, Neeraj Patel, Porgai Artisans Association, Shrujan, Shraddha Kocchar, Studio Medium, Ujjal Dey and 23 N 69 E. 3. Open Studio by Serendipity Arts: The culminating showcase of the Serendipity Arts Residency 2026 brings together six emerging artists presenting new bodies of work developed over three months of intensive research, experimentation and dialogue at the Foundation’s space in Defence Colony, New Delhi. This year’s residents include Gopinath Kshetrimayum, Vanshika Rathore, Smiha Kapoor, Nirmal Mondal, Pratik Anil Sutar, and Josefina Paz. “The Open Studio invites audiences into artistic practices still in motion, offering a rare opportunity to engage with works at a formative stage through artist walkthroughs, performances, workshops and conversations,” explains Smriti Rajgarhia, Director of Serendipity Arts. 4. Walking Root Route, Monali Meher’s solo exhibition at LATITUDE 28: Based in Belgium, Monali Meher is internationally acclaimed for her multidisciplinary practice. This is her first solo show in Delhi and it brings together over two decades of work across performance, installation, photography, glass, textile, and drawing, exploring movement, memory, material, and transformation. A special interactive performance walkthrough by Monali Meher titled Between Steps took place on August 4, followed by A Pigment Called ‘Aftermath’, which was a conversation between Meher and Neha ‘Zooni’ Tickoo, Associate Curator, Visual Art, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art. 5. Abandoned by Latika Katt at Gallery Threshold: Latika Katt was one of the most distinctive figures in modern Indian sculpture, having trained as a sculptor in the 1960s. This show by Gallery Threshold presents her final body of work from 2023–2025. “My sculptures are all about assimilation of my feelings and reaction to what is happening around me, and what touches my heart and mind. Nature is my inspiration, therefore my works are spontaneously created and organic in feel! Each sculpture is a still shot, and complete at every moment, yet can go on expanding, like a beehive or a termite hill. Transform all visual and emotional experience into my materials like bronze, marble, terracotta, wood, ceramic, cowdung, papier maches, drawings, prints, or whatever material I find suitable for a particular subject/content,” are words attributed to Katt. 6. FIRE & FORM, by Keshari Nandan, presented by 108 Art Projects at Triveni Kala Sangam: Bringing together over thirty recent stoneware works, the exhibition reflects more than three decades of Keshari Nandan’s engagement with clay, where functional pottery, architectural ceramics, and contemporary sculpture converge through a singular language of material, craftsmanship, and fire. The exhibition has been curated by Uma Nair and is being presented by 108 Art Projects. Exhibition Details: On View: 11 August 2026 onwards Venue: Shridharani Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi.

7. Performing Belief at Kalakaar Art Salon: This group exhibition curated by Rahul Kumar, brings together the works of 22 artists. Works by S. H. Raza, F. N. Souza, M. F. Husain, Sohan Qadri, G. R. Santosh, Jamini Roy, Haku Shah, among others are on display. “The exhibition traces how Indian modernists engaged with mythology, tantric philosophy, folk traditions and collective memory, while contemporary artists revisit these concerns through themes of migration, ecology, gender, urbanisation and embodied experience. It also foregrounds artistic practice itself as ritual, where sustained engagement with materials and process becomes a means of negotiating memory, continuity and cultural inheritance,” says curator Kumar. 8. Facing Tradition: The Evolution of the Indian Countenance by Gallerie Nvya: “The human face is rarely just a portrait in Indian art. It is a map of history, a vessel for the divine, and a mirror of a changing society. Facing Tradition brings together a compelling selection of works by masters who have shaped the course of Indian Modernism. Focusing solely on the human visage, the exhibition journeys across 150 years of Indian art, from the nationalist aspirations of the Bengal School and the bold formal language of the Progressives to the layered identities and narratives of contemporary practice. Across these shifting interpretations, the face becomes more than an image. It becomes a witness to time, holding within it, memory, identity, belief, and the changing story of India,” says the team. 9. A Slow Sip of Solitude by Gallery Pristine Contemporary: An exhibition bringing together twenty-three works by three Indian artists exclusively represented by the gallery, Ayuesh Agarwal, Salony Garg, and Varad Bang. Curated by Gallery Co-founders and Directors Arjun Sawhney and Arjun Butani, the exhibition extends beyond the works themselves through a sitespecific spatial intervention conceived by celebrated interior designer and AD100 awardee Iram Sultan. Sawhney and Butani say, “Through painting and design, we wanted to explore solitude as a condition that allows us to reconnect with ourselves, with our surroundings, and with the act of paying attention.” Exhibition Details: On View: July 24 to September 5, 2026, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Monday to Saturday Venue: Gallery Pristine Contemporary, Saini Bhawan, New Delhi
