Legacy meets innovation as crash.club challenges conventions with bold designs, lab-grown diamonds and purposeful luxury experiences.

What does luxury mean to you? For Chaitanya V. Cotha, Executive Director of the C. Krishniah Chetty Group, and the founder of homegrown jewellery brand, crash.club, it is a reflection of the times in which it exists. He says, “There was a time when heritage alone defined luxury. Then came craftsmanship, exclusivity, and the pursuit of rarity. Today, a new generation of consumers is challenging the status quo. They want design with intention, innovation with purpose, and brands that stand for something beyond the product itself.”

He further explains, “Born from the 155-year legacy of one of India’s most respected jewellery houses, crash.club is not an attempt to rewrite tradition, but to reimagine it altogether. It takes the values that have long defined C. Krishniah Chetty – craftsmanship, integrity, and an enduring pursuit of excellence – and expresses them through a fresh, contemporary lens. In just a few years, crash.club has evolved from an ambitious idea into one of India’s most closely watched luxe brands. Purpose-driven yet design-led, experimental yet deeply rooted in legacy, it continues to challenge long-held conventions of what a jewellery brand can be.”

Emanating from legacy brand C. Krishniah Chetty, which was founded in 1869, the house has an unwavering commitment to quality. As Cotha puts it, “Legacy is not about repeating what has already been done. It is about building something meaningful enough to be remembered by the next generation. We conceived crash.club as a modern luxury brand for a new generation of consumers, built on the idea that jewellery could be more expressive, more experimental, and more relevant to the way people live today. It challenged the norms around materials, design, sustainability, and even the categories a jewellery brand could inhabit. The result is not a departure from legacy, but an evolution that brings innovation into the mix, daring to create a new world order for fine jewellery in India.”

Speaking about the vision for the brand, he says, “Rather than staying within the familiar boundaries of a jewellery brand, crash.club has consistently explored new horizons, new materials, and new ways of experiencing luxury. From high-design silver jewellery and lab-grown diamonds to Swiss movement watches, fragrances, and lifestyle-led collections, each new launch reflects the same belief: modern luxury should evolve alongside the people who wear it. This spirit of exploration has given rise to collections that are as diverse as they are distinctive. Lure reimagines fine jewellery through India’s first collection of 24 signature-cut lab-grown diamonds. Solitaire Sutra offers a contemporary interpretation of the traditional mangalsutra for a new generation of brides. Ace of Diamonds takes jewellery beyond occasions and into movement, pairing fine jewellery with the growing culture of padel. Most recently, the brand has expanded into Swiss movement watches and fragrances, demonstrating that craftsmanship and thoughtful design need not be confined to a single category.”

“Innovation is only meaningful when it moves the industry forward. For crash.club, innovation has never been about novelty for its own sake. It’s about asking better, bolder questions. Can a diamond ring exist without gold? Could lab-grown diamonds unlock cuts that were once considered impractical? Time and again, the brand has answered these questions by building rather than speculating. Among its most defining milestones is The Legacy Duo – the sale of India’s largest lab-grown diamonds in consecutive years. In 2024, crash.club unveiled a record-breaking 20.06-carat emerald-cut diamond. A year later, it surpassed its own achievement with a 21.82-carat round brilliant-cut diamond, reinforcing its position at the forefront of India’s lab-grown diamond movement,” he adds.

“The same spirit of exploration led to the creation of India’s first self-supporting all-diamond ring, crafted entirely from a single lab-grown diamond without any metal setting. Years of research, advanced engineering, and precision craftsmanship transformed what began as an ambitious, bizarre idea into a remarkable demonstration of what modern diamond artistry can achieve.”

Other noteworthy achievements include Lure, India’s first collection of 24 signature-cut lab-grown diamonds. The Swiss Movement Watch Collection marked the brand’s entry into precision timekeeping, while Rare Scents extended its design philosophy into fragrance.

Cotha is an alum of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and believes that legacy should never limit imagination. It should inspire it. “True leadership builds legacy, not just scale. Markets fluctuate and trends fade, but excellence endures. Our responsibility is to protect the values that have defined us for generations while having the confidence to shape what comes next.”

crash.club has earned plenty of industry recognition since its inception. This includes winning India’s Largest Lab-Grown Diamond Achievement Award at the ET Achievers Awards 2025. Cotha shares, “The jewellery industry is evolving rapidly. Today, people are looking beyond tradition. They want thoughtful design, innovation, meaningful experiences, and brands that reflect their values. Our role is to continue building for that future while remaining true to the craftsmanship and integrity that have always defined us.”

He ends by sharing, “This mindset continues to shape everything crash.club creates. Curious by nature and uncompromising in its pursuit of innovation, our brand has never been content with simply following established paths. Whether reimagining diamond craftsmanship, introducing entirely new product categories, or finding meaningful ways to blend luxury with purpose, crash.club continues to push the boundaries of what a modern luxury house can be. Every collection is an invitation to think differently, create boldly, and challenge the expected. Perhaps that is the spirit of crash.club. To keep looking where others aren’t. To remain curious enough to discover beauty in unlikely places, and bold enough to turn those discoveries into something extraordinary.”
