NEW DELHI: The Embassy of Israel in India brought renowned Israeli storyteller and theater actress Naama Tel Tzur for Kathakar—Asia’s premier storytelling festival—held from January 31 to February 2, 2025.
Since 2011, Kathakar has been a unique international festival dedicated to preserving and celebrating the ancient art of storytelling, organized in collaboration with UNESCO and the India’s Ministry of Culture. This year, Naama Tel Tzur, a distinguished storyteller from the Galilee, captivated audiences with five immersive performances, blending theater, folklore, and spoken-word art. Known for integrating nature into her work, she also conducted forest workshops, exploring the connection between environment, self-expression, and community engagement.
Reflecting on her participation, Naama said, “Storytelling transcends boundaries, uniting cultures and hearts. I am honoured to bring Israel’s storytelling tradition to Kathakar, where we celebrate the power of stories to connect and inspire.”
Developer of the “Tribal Playback” method and a member of an Arab-Jewish theater ensemble, Naama’s participation highlighted the growing cultural collaboration between Israel and India.
The Embassy of Israel expressed its delight in supporting this enriching exchange, as audiences in India experienced a truly interactive storytelling journey.
