The existing Dearness Allowance hike is 60% of the basic pay after adding 2 percentage points to the existing 58% from January 2026. The next hike in accordance with AICPI-IW for July 2026 is 3 percentage points to 63%. However, at the same time, the 8th Pay Commission is meeting various stakeholders. The 8th Pay Commission recently completed its meeting at Jaipur and is expected to meet at Chennai, Puducherry, Chandigarh, and Bengaluru.

The decision regarding DA in July 2026 is yet to be made. There are two revisions of DA in a year based on AICPI-IW figures. In July 2026, the latest AICPI-IW index has climbed to 153.2, up from 151.9 of the previous month. This figure has added fuel to the prediction that DA will go up by 4 percent from 60% to 64%. However, the final figure is unknown until the Centre publishes the notification.

No. This 64% value is presently a prediction made using the recent AICPI-IW values. It is not an officially sanctioned DA value. In case it is sanctioned, there will be an increase in the DA value from 60% to 64%, effective from July 1, 2026.

Fitment factor continues to be an important demand of trade unions for employees. While 1.86 was considered in 6th Pay Commission, 2.57 was taken into account in 7th Pay Commission. Different trade unions have demanded a higher fitment factor under 8th Pay Commission. But so far, there has been no decision about the fitment factor or increase in salary.
