Aadhaar Update: You need to update your Aadhaar card personal information because it helps maintain accurate official records. One of the common corrections required is updating or correcting your father’s name. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) enables residents to perform these corrections through both online and offline methods. You can use this complete guide to modify your Aadhaar card father’s name information.

Why Update Your Father’s Name?

Incorrect or misspelt father’s names can create issues while applying for PAN cards, bank accounts, passports, and other official documents. Your Aadhaar needs to display your correct name because this requirement helps verify your identity when needed.

Online Process to Correct Father’s Name

  • Visit the UIDAI Portal: Go to https://uidai.gov.in
and log in to your Aadhaar account using your Aadhaar number and OTP.
  • Select ‘Update Demographics’: Click on Update Aadhaar Details (Online) under the ‘Update Aadhaar’ section.
  • Choose Father’s Name: The Father’s Name section requires you to enter your name exactly as it appears in official documents.
  • Upload Supporting Documents: You need to upload a scanned document that proves your relationship to your parents through valid proof of parentage, which can include your birth certificate, PAN card, passport, and other UIDAI-approved documents.
  • Submit Request: You need to verify your details to complete the request submission process. Note the Update Request Number (URN) for tracking.

Offline Process to Correct Father’s Name

You can visit an Aadhaar Enrollment/Update Centre with your Aadhaar card and documents to request a correction. The operator will direct you to complete the update form after you provide the necessary evidence.

Track Your Update

You can track your Aadhaar update status by using the URN on the UIDAI portal. The correction process will show results within 7-10 working days.

Updating your father’s name on Aadhaar is straightforward and essential for consistency across official documents. Both online and offline methods are secure, fast, and reliable.
