Bihar School Holiday (September 12): With the 12th of September approaching, students and parents in Bihar are watching the school calendar keenly. The date will be the second Saturday in September, and weather conditions throughout the region are also a concern. This has raised the question of whether schools will be closed or whether it will be business as usual. Here is all the detail you need to know.
Bihar School Holiday (September 12): Will schools be closed on September 12?
Several schools across Bihar may remain closed on September 12 as the date falls on the second Saturday of the month. Schools that traditionally observe the second Saturday as a holiday are expected to follow their regular weekend schedule. However, not every institution necessarily follows the same calendar, so the holiday status can vary between schools. Students and parents should therefore check the latest notice issued by their respective institution before assuming that September 12 is a day off.
Is September 12 a holiday because it is the second Saturday?
For schools that follow a second-Saturday holiday system, September 12 is likely to be observed as a regular holiday. This means students at such institutions would not be required to attend classes on that day. However, the second-Saturday rule does not automatically mean that every school across Bihar will be closed. Private schools and other institutions may follow their own academic calendars, including different working Saturdays or special schedules.
Could heavy rain lead to school closures in Bihar?
Weather conditions could also influence school operations if heavy rainfall causes waterlogging, flooding, traffic disruptions or difficult commuting conditions. In such circumstances, authorities may issue specific instructions for schools in affected areas, while individual institutions could also communicate changes to their schedules. Any weather-related closure would depend on the severity of the situation and official decisions taken at the local level.
How can parents confirm the school holiday status?
Parents and students should check their school’s official communication channels for the most accurate information regarding September 12. School websites, circulars, SMS alerts, official WhatsApp groups and other authorised notifications can provide confirmation about whether classes are scheduled. In case of severe weather, parents should also keep an eye on announcements from the relevant local administration or education authorities for any last-minute changes.
