The upcoming protest called by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on June 6 is drawing increasing attention online after a viral video claimed that farmers and Nihang Sikh groups may join the demonstration, raising questions about the scale and direction of the event.

The social media-based youth movement, which was started by Abhijeet Dipke, has announced its first major public protest demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for alleged irregularities in competitive exams.

Is CJP Planning a Two-Day Dharna at Jantar Mantar?

A video that is going viral on social media say that the protest on June 6 might be a two-day dharna with the participation of farmers and Nihang Sikh groups. But CJP has not made any announcement of a sit-in that lasts more than a day or about the particular farmer groups that might participate.

The movement has declared that its protest will be peaceful and restricted to student issues such as the management and accountability of examinations.

Why Is CJP Organising Protest?

According to CJP leaders, the protest is aimed at demanding accountability over controversies linked to competitive examinations, including allegations of paper leaks, administrative lapses and concerns surrounding evaluation systems.

Speaking at the group’s debut press conference at the Constitution Club, spokesperson Saurav Das said the movement has issued an open invitation for citizens to participate regardless of political affiliation.

“We are demanding accountability in the system,” Das said, arguing that recent administrative transfers do not address deeper concerns.

Public Figures Have Expressed Support

The planned protest has received support from prominent personalities, including climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and actor Prakash Raj.

Wangchuk posted on social media urging supporters to remain committed to “peace and love,” while Raj said he was attempting to attend the gathering to express solidarity with the movement.

CJP leaders have also raised concerns that Dipke could face police action upon his arrival in India. The founder has said he believes the proposed protest falls within constitutional protections for peaceful assembly and free expression. With June 6 approaching, attention remains focused on whether the gathering will remain a student-led demonstration or evolve into a broader protest drawing support from multiple social groups.
