Delhi Traffic Police has issued a travel advisory for Thursday, August 13, in view of the Independence Day full-dress rehearsal at the Red Fort. Traffic restrictions and diversions have been imposed around the Red Fort from 4 am to 10 am for security and public convenience.
Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and avoid restricted stretches during the rehearsal.

Which Roads Should Commuters Avoid Today?
Vehicles without parking labels have been advised to avoid several key roads and stretches, including C-Hexagon, India Gate, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, Sikandra Road, Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, BSZ Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg and JL Nehru Marg. Restrictions will also affect the Ring Road between Nizamuddin Khatta and ISBT Kashmiri Gate, as well as the Outer Ring Road stretch connecting these areas via the Salimgarh bypass.
What Alternative Routes Can Commuters Use?
For north-south movement, commuters can use Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Kautilya Marg, S Marg, 11 Murti, Mother Teresa Crescent, Park Street, Mandir Marg, Panchkuian Road and Rani Jhansi Road. For east-west movement, commuters can take NH-24/NH-9, Nizamuddin Khatta, Barapulla Road and Ring Road.
Those travelling from Trans-Yamuna areas towards North Delhi can use Pusta Road, GT Road and Yudhister Setu to reach ISBT Kashmere Gate and northern Delhi.
Why Has DMRC Advised Commuters To Use The Metro?
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has urged commuters across Delhi-NCR to use metro services instead of travelling by road during the security restrictions. DMRC said the Metro would provide a safer and more reliable option while road restrictions remain in place for the Independence Day rehearsal. Commuters are advised to allow extra travel time and check the latest traffic and public transport updates before starting their journey.
