Heavy rain lashed Delhi-NCR on Tuesday morning, bringing relief from the humid weather as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for several parts of the national capital. With more rain and gusty winds expected during the day, Delhi Airport has also issued a passenger advisory, saying flight operations remain normal despite the weather.
The weather department said the city is expected to witness a generally cloudy sky with light rain at most places and moderate rainfall in some areas during the morning. Another spell of rain is likely later in the evening or at night. The IMD has also predicted moderate rainfall on Wednesday, with similar weather expected over the next few days.
Delhi Airport Issues Passenger Advisory
Amid the heavy rainfall, Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport issued a passenger advisory on X. The airport said that while adverse weather conditions are expected around Delhi, flight operations are currently normal. Airport authorities added that on-ground teams are working with all stakeholders to minimise disruption and advised passengers to check the latest flight status directly with their respective airlines before leaving for the airport.

Traffic And Waterlogging Likely
Authorities have warned that heavy rain may lead to traffic congestion and waterlogging in several low-lying areas across Delhi. Commuters have been advised to check traffic conditions before travelling and avoid flooded roads during periods of intense rainfall.
Temperatures Expected To Drop
The rain has already started bringing temperatures down across the city. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 25.5°C, which was 1.8 degrees below normal. After Monday’s maximum temperature of 38.1°C, the IMD expects daytime temperatures to fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the coming six days due to increased rainfall activity.
Delhi’s Air Quality Remains Satisfactory Despite the changing weather, Delhi’s air quality remained in the ‘satisfactory’ category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 77 at 9 am.
