Delhi Weather Update Latest June 4: Capital receives Heavy Rainfall, Thunderstorm
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in an updated forecast at 13:30 hours predicted partly cloudy skies gradually turning generally cloudy as the day progresses. A spell of light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds of 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, is expected during the afternoon and evening hours. Weather activity is likely to continue into the night, with another round of very light to light rain, along with thunderstorms and lightning, anticipated across the region.
At 14:00 hours, the forecast changed to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30–50 kmph in several parts of Delhi, including Narela, Alipur, Burari, Badli, Model Town, Karawal Nagar, Azadpur, and the Delhi University area. Residents in these localities may experience brief periods of intense weather activity and reduced visibility.
Delhi residents received much-needed respite on June 4 as gusty winds, light to moderate rain, and thunderstorms lashed several areas. Triggered by a Western Disturbance and cyclonic circulation, the activity brought strong winds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, along with lightning. Temperatures dropped noticeably, offering relief from 40°C+ highs. But with rain, comes heavy traffic and commute disruption as well.Â
Most of the residents have displayed a sense of relief on social media platforms like X, where they can be seen to be pleased about how the rainfall will act as a form of relief for the constant non-rainy days, which had led to a rise in temperatures in the last few days for the capital city.
