Crores of Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) members are expected to start seeing their 8.25% annual interest for FY 2025-26 reflected in their EPF accounts from July 15. Members can check whether the interest has been credited through the EPFO portal, UMANG app or Passbook Lite. The government has approved an 8.25% interest rate on EPF deposits for the financial year 2025-26. The total interest payout is estimated to be over Rs 1.44 lakh crore, which will be credited to eligible EPF member accounts.

How Can You Check If Your EPF Interest Has Been Credited?

EPFO members can verify the updated balance through multiple online platforms.

1. EPFO Member Passbook Portal

•    Visit the EPFO Member Passbook portal.
•    Log in using your 12 digit Universal Account Number (UAN), password and captcha.
•    Check your updated balance and interest credit.

2. EPFO Member e-Sewa (Passbook Lite)

•    Visit the EPFO e-Sewa portal.
•    Complete OTP verification using your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
•    Access Passbook Lite to view recent contributions, withdrawals and updated balance.

3. UMANG App

Members can also log in to the UMANG App to check their EPF balance and track whether the annual interest has been credited.

Why Is This Interest Credit Important?

This is the first major interest credit after EPFO migrated its database to the new Centralised Information Technology Enabled Services (CITES) platform. The new system aims to improve transparency, speed up services and provide better online access for EPFO members.

What Did The Labour Minister Say?

Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that EPFO has already begun processing the annual interest payment. He also noted that earlier, interest credit usually reflected in members’ accounts during October or November after government approval. With the implementation of the new CITES platform, the process has become faster.
