The first-time employee and the job-changing employee both need the following guide, which shows them how to create an EPFO account through online and offline methods.

What is EPFO 3.0?

The upgraded system EPFO 3.0 enables users to register their accounts through the Unified Member Portal while they complete KYC verification and use digital services. The system reduces both paperwork requirements and manual processing times.

EPFO 3.0 Update: How to Create an EPFO Account Online?

The simple process includes these three steps:

  • Access the EPFO Unified Member Portal.
  • Select "Activate UAN" from the Important Links section.
  • Users need to enter their Aadhaar number, PAN, mobile number, and date of birth information.
  • Confirm the OTP that arrives on your registered mobile device.
  • You need to create a password that will allow you to activate your Universal Account Number (UAN).

Your EPFO account becomes operational after you complete the activation process. The system allows you to check your balance and perform KYC updates, and submit claims through online channels.

EPFO 3.0 Update: How to Create an EPFO Account Offline?

The offline method requires users to:

  • Request Form 11 (New Employee Declaration Form) from your employer.
  • Fill in personal details like Aadhaar, PAN, bank account, and nominee information.
  • You need to submit the form with all necessary documents to your employer.
  • Your employer will complete your registration with EPFO and create your UAN.
  • Once the process is completed, you will receive your UAN information.
