Air India’s Official Response to the Flight Cancellation Claim
Air India cleared the air by not just refuting the claim but also calling it ‘malicious’. “#FakeNews Alert: Malicious and fabricated claims circulating on certain platforms alleging that Air India has cancelled all international flights are completely false and baseless. For accurate information, please rely only on official Air India channels,” a post by Air India Newsroom on the microblogging platform X said, which also included a screenshot of the viral post.
Cause of the Air India Flight Cancellation Claim
Recently, unconfirmed reports emerged that multiple airlines had trimmed their services recently, as the ongoing US-Israel-Iran war led to a massive surge in fuel prices. Air India did suspend over 500 international flights for April and May.
It is also alleged that Campbell Wilson, the CEO of Air India, had a staff meeting wherein he informed them about plans to limit operations. It is important to note that the ongoing US-Israel-Iran war has also caused geopolitical route disruptions and an increase in operational costs, in addition to the massive surge in fuel prices
