The founder of the viral satirical movement Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), Abhijeet Dipke, announced in a video address that he will be returning to India on June 6, appealing to the youth to join him to protest at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, and speculations have developed about whether he is being deported from the United States.

As anticipation builds for CJP’s scheduled Jantar Mantar protest, social media is engulfed in discussions about the status of Dipke’s return. Viral social media claims, amplified by influencers like Shayan Krishna, allege that Dipke was deported from the United States, suggesting his return to India is a result of legal enforcement rather than voluntary movement.

However, the reality behind these claims remains complex, with conflicting narratives emerging as Dipke prepares to land in New Delhi this week.

Expected Arrest and Political Return

Dipke himself has addressed the situation with a sense of defiance, confirming that he expects to be taken into police custody immediately upon arrival at the airport. In a public statement regarding his return, Dipke remarked, “I will most likely be arrested at the airport,” emphasising that his focus remains on the movement rather than personal repercussions. The CJP founder has been a vocal critic of the central government, specifically spearheading a campaign calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following the NEET-UG examination paper leak controversy.

Clarifying the ‘Deportation’ Narrative

While influencers have aggressively pushed the narrative of deportation, the official stance from the CJP camp suggests a more strategic return. Supporters of the movement argue that the viral videos and claims of deportation are part of an effort to discredit Dipke’s leadership ahead of the planned protest. Despite the noise surrounding his immigration status, Dipke has maintained that his primary objective is to reach the Jantar Mantar demonstration to rally against systemic examination failures. As of June 1, reports confirmed that he was indeed set to return to India to face the brewing political storm, framing his arrival as a necessary step to reclaim the narrative of the CJP.

The uncertainty surrounding the circumstances of his return has only heightened the visibility of the CJP’s cause, turning a logistical event into a focal point of national media attention. Whether his arrival leads to the anticipated arrest or a new phase of political mobilisation, the event is set to test the endurance of the CJP’s grassroots activism in the capital.
