NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday, March 2, 2026 laid out an extensive governance and employment blueprint for West Bengal, pledging that the 7th Pay Commission would be implemented within 45 days if a BJP government comes to power in the state. He also announced that the process to fill all vacant government positions would commence by December 26.
Speaking at a large public rally during the Parivartan Yatra at Bhagabatipore (Gopinathpur Mouza) in the Raidighi Assembly segment of South 24 Parganas district, Shah underscored employment creation, administrative reforms, and long-pending financial justice for government staff as key pillars of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s agenda for Bengal.
He assured state government employees that the BJP would roll out the 7th Pay Commission benefits within 45 days of assuming office, describing it as a long-overdue measure that would provide financial relief and institutional stability to lakhs of employees.
Addressing concerns over rising unemployment, Shah said recruitment for all vacant government posts would be initiated by December 26. To compensate young aspirants for delays in hiring, he announced a special five-year age relaxation in government recruitment exams. He further promised transparent and merit-based recruitment systems to rebuild trust among job seekers and curb alleged irregularities.
Further a major financial announcement, Shah committed ₹5,700 crore towards women’s empowerment initiatives. He said targeted schemes would be introduced to promote women’s safety, dignity, economic self-reliance, and social security across the state.
Touching upon the controversy involving the recruitment of nearly 26,000 teachers, Shah stated that a BJP administration would pursue a lawful and transparent resolution, supported by appropriate financial allocations.
Taking a firm stand against corruption, Shah reiterated a zero-tolerance approach. He declared that those involved in scams or misappropriation of public funds would face strict legal action and that political patronage shielding corrupt individuals would be withdrawn. Serious offenders, he added, would be brought fully within the ambit of the law.
He also vowed to bolster law and order, dismantle the network of external mafias allegedly operating in the state, and act decisively against criminals enjoying political backing. Stressing national and border security, Shah said illegal infiltrators would be identified through due legal procedures and dealt with in line with constitutional provisions.
Recalling Bengal’s spiritual heritage, including Gangasagar, and the historic resistance led by Maharaja Pratapaditya, Shah described the Parivartan Yatra as a movement aimed at ensuring transparent governance and balanced development.
Expressing confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah said a BJP government in West Bengal would usher in administrative transparency, boost employment, strengthen governance structures, and restore the state’s economic and cultural stature. He urged citizens to back what he termed a transformative shift toward a secure and prosperous future.
