The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a new feature that allows users to add or update their email ID through the Aadhaar App without visiting an Aadhaar Seva Kendra. The online service is available from July 1, 2026, and will remain free until December 31, 2026. Earlier, Aadhaar holders had to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra or enrolment centre to add or update their email ID. With the latest update, users can now complete the entire process digitally through the official Aadhaar App, making the service quicker and more convenient.
UIDAI has waived the usual Rs 75 fee for updating an email ID through the Aadhaar App. The free service is available from July 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026. Users who update their email ID through the official app during this period will not have to pay any charges.
Why Should You Link Your Email ID With Aadhaar?
Linking an email ID with Aadhaar helps users receive important updates and notifications from UIDAI. Some of the benefits include:
•   Notifications related to Aadhaar services
•   Authentication and verification alerts
•   Better communication from UIDAI
•   Improved account security and recovery
Keeping contact details updated also ensures users do not miss important Aadhaar-related information.
How To Update Your Email ID Through The Aadhaar App
Users can update their email ID by following these steps:
•   Open or download the official Aadhaar App.
•   Log in using the required authentication process.
•   Select the option to add or update your email ID.
•   Enter your new email address.
•   Complete the verification process as instructed.

Once the verification is completed, the updated email ID will be linked to your Aadhaar. The new feature has received a positive response since its launch. According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, more than 2.5 lakh email ID updates were recorded within the first two days of the service becoming available.
