India News: A shocking murder case in outer Delhi has triggered concern over safety and rising violent crimes in residential spaces. A 35-year-old woman was found dead inside a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Mangolpuri, with police later discovering her body hidden inside a bed storage box.

Investigators said the crime surfaced after the PG owner noticed suspicious circumstances inside one of the rooms and alerted authorities. Police rushed to the building in the Patthar Market area after receiving a PCR call on Tuesday evening about a body found under suspicious conditions.

Authorities have arrested three men in connection with the case, including the woman’s alleged boyfriend, his uncle, and the uncle’s friend. Police believe the crime took place inside a rented room where the accused had arranged a private meeting with the victim.

Body Found Inside Bed Box

According to investigators, the woman arrived at the PG around 4:30 pm to meet the main accused. The two remained inside a room for nearly an hour while two other men stayed at the property during the same time.

Later in the evening, the PG owner returned to the premises and found the room door unlocked and the accused missing. While checking the room, he noticed part of a human leg sticking out from the bed storage box. He immediately opened the compartment and discovered the woman’s body, after which he informed the police.

A senior officer confirmed that the victim’s body showed signs of violence. “The body bore strangulation marks and injuries on the forehead. It was sent for a post-mortem examination,” said Joint Commissioner of police (Western Range) Jatin Narwal.

Police teams and forensic experts collected samples from the crime scene as part of the investigation.

How the Crime Unfolded: ‘Pinned, Smothered, Then Strangled’

During questioning, investigators said the prime accused admitted to killing the woman following an argument inside the room. Police believe the incident escalated after the victim resisted advances allegedly made by the other two men present at the location.

According to investigators, the accused allegedly forced the woman to the ground and held her down before attacking her. Authorities said he then used a blanket to smother her and later strangled her.

Officials added that the woman suffered visible injuries during the struggle. After the killing, the accused allegedly hid the body inside the bed box to conceal evidence. The two other accused reportedly stood outside the room and later helped the main suspect escape from the scene.

Police registered a case under sections 103 (murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Investigation Focuses on Possible Sexual Harassment Angle

Investigators are also examining whether the victim faced sexual harassment before the killing. Officials confirmed that all three accused were present at the property during the incident, and authorities are reconstructing the sequence of events to establish individual roles.

Police said the victim was a domestic worker living in the same locality and was survived by her husband and three children. The main accused reportedly operated a chicken shop near her residence and had been in contact with her before the incident.

Authorities continue to analyse forensic evidence, witness statements, and call records to determine the full motive behind the crime.
