Ranchi Municipal Corporation Voter Turnout

Among all urban bodies, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation recorded the lowest voter turnout at 43.35 per cent, according to official SEC data. Polling for all civic elections in the state was conducted using ballot papers, rather than electronic voting machines.

How Many Seats and Candidates Are in the Fray?

Elections were held for mayor and chairperson posts in 48 ULBs, along with councillor elections in 1,042 wards. While Jharkhand has 1,087 wards, polling did not take place in all due to uncontested wins, vacant seats, and one cancelled poll following a candidate’s death.

In total, 562 candidates, including 235 women, contested mayor and chairperson posts. For ward councillor seats, 5,562 candidates, including 2,727 women, were in the race. Although candidates did not contest on official party symbols, most received backing from political outfits.
