Kanpur Police have arrested 26-year-old Shivam Mishra in connection with a high-speed Lamborghini accident that injured three people and triggered a wider investigation into road safety and police conduct. Officers detained Mishra, the son of a prominent tobacco businessman, after investigators said evidence placed him behind the wheel during the crash. Authorities seized the luxury Lamborghini Revuelto and began technical and forensic examinations as the case drew public attention.
Police also removed a local Station House Officer from duty, citing negligence and failure to follow proper procedures after the accident. The disciplinary action added another dimension to a case already under intense scrutiny.
How Did the Kanpur Lamborghini Accident Happen?

Kanpur Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal said, “If the tests show that he was medically unfit to drive, we will examine how he obtained a driving licence,” indicating that authorities will also examine the role of transport officials if required.
Who is Shivam Mishra?
Shivam Mishra is the owner of the Banshidhar Group. Shivam Mishra has been living a lavish lifestyle with luxury cars worth over Rs 60 crore, all bearing the same number plate ‘4018’.
Local accounts suggest Shivam may have been under the influence at the time of the accident, though police have not yet publicly confirmed the results of any medical tests. After the crash, his security aides allegedly tried to shield him from angry onlookers, escalating tension at the site.
Shivam has previously made headlines due to his family’s business and investigations into their financial affairs, which brought him into the public spotlight before the Kanpur crash.
Who Was Driving the Lamborghini in the Kanpur Crash?
The central controversy centers on who was driving the luxury sports car at the time of the accident. Police said CCTV footage and witness statements place Mishra at the wheel, while his lawyer insisted a chauffeur drove the vehicle. Investigators have maintained that their findings support the claim that Mishra was driving and said legal arguments would not influence the probe.
His lawyer argued that the car was operated by a designated driver and described Mishra’s health as fragile. The defence has already made court applications as legal proceedings continue.
Medical Condition, Alcohol Allegations, and Forensic Tests
Investigators are examining multiple theories about the cause of the accident. Mishra’s family claimed he suffered a seizure and had experienced similar medical episodes in recent months. Officials said medical examinations and forensic reports will determine whether alcohol or a health condition contributed to the crash.
Authorities also ordered technical checks of the seized vehicle and confirmed that Mishra was pulled from the car by private security personnel following the collision.
Cop Suspended and Investigation Expands
The Gwaltoli SHO lost his post after senior officials found procedural lapses in the handling of the accident. Police said they will review every aspect of the incident, including licensing procedures and whether Mishra was medically fit to drive.
The case has attracted wider attention partly because Mishra’s family faced Income Tax Department scrutiny in 2024, when raids reportedly uncovered luxury vehicles and cash linked to the business group. As investigators continue to gather evidence, further legal proceedings are expected in the coming days.
