Private schools in Karnataka are expected to remain open today The Karnataka Associated Management of Schools (KAMS) withdrew its earlier advisory recommending school closures, citing concerns over the loss of academic days. Schools have instead been encouraged to continue regular academic activities.
As a symbolic gesture, school management and staff may wear black ribbons or black strips to express support for Karnataka’s position on the Cauvery dispute.
Will Hotels, Cabs And Autos Remain Open?
The status of hotels, cabs and autorickshaws may vary depending on whether their respective associations extend support to the bandh. Hotel associations, cab unions, autorickshaw unions and traders’ associations were expected to discuss their participation before announcing their decisions. Passengers and commuters should therefore check with individual operators before travelling, particularly during the bandh hours.

The bandh was initially called in protest against the Cauvery Water Management Authority’s direction to release water to Tamil Nadu. Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj has since said the protest will also highlight wider irrigation and development concerns, including the Kalasa-Banduri and Mekedatu projects. The shutdown is expected to run from 6 am to 6 pm.
