Karnataka Cabinet 2026: Who Gets What In DK Shivakumar’s Ministry? Full List Of Ministers And Their Portfolios

Sources indicate that Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar is likely to retain several senior leaders in key ministries while assigning prominent portfolios such as Home, Finance, Health and Social Welfare to trusted party figures.

Senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar officially assumed office as Karnataka’s 34th chief minister on Wednesday, which ushered in a new era for the state with a notable political shift. At the swearing in event, held at Bengaluru’s Lok Bhavan, he officially started his term as chief minister, taking over from the earlier chief minister Siddaramaiah. Senior leader G Parameshwara was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister along with Shivakumar. Also, Thirteen more lawmakers were brought into the Council of Ministers during the ceremony, and it effectively set up a fresh cabinet meant to steer the state’s governance ahead. Key Congress figures, including Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, were present at the event. There were chief ministers from other Congress ruled states as well, like Revanth Reddy from Telangana, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu from Himachal Pradesh, and VD Satheesan of Kerala.

Karnataka Cabinet 2026: Who Gets What In DK Shivkumar’s ministry? 

1. G Parameshwara: Deputy Chief Minister will also probably get Social Welfare. He is one of the longest serving state party chiefs. 

2. Priyank Kharge: Likely get Home Ministry, Son of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, MLA of Chittapur constituency. 

3. UT Khader: Will probably get Health Ministry, Only Muslim in the cabinet. Son of UT Fareed and is a 5-time MLA. 

4. Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah: Will likely get Urban Development or Minor Irrigation Ministry, son of former CM Siddaramaiah, is the only MLC in the list of ministers inducted Wednesday. 

5. KH Muniyappa: Likely to get Food and Civil Supplies who is the most senior minister in the Shivakumar Cabinet who is a member of the Madiga SC.

6. Krishna Byregowda: Likely get Finance and Revenue, Previously appointed Minister for Revenue in 2023. 

7. Byrathi Suresh: Likely to get OBC Welfare And Municipal Administration, an aide of Siddaramaiah and also has influence in Bengaluru’s Northern part. 

8. Ramalinga Reddy: Will likely continue with Transport and Muzrai ministry, his daughter is former MLA Sowmya Reddy. 

9. Eashwar Khandre: Likely to continue with Forest and Environment. 

10. Satish Jarkhiholi: Likely to continue with PWD.

11. MB Patil: Likely to continue with Medium and Large Industries.

12. KJ George: Likely to continues with power.

13. Sharan Prakash Patil: Likely to continue with medical Education.

In order to strengthen the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, the administration also made administrative adjustments after the swearing in, such as designating Tushar Giri Nath, an IAS officer from the 1993 batch, as Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Post

Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised the Center’s support with the new Karnataka government for public welfare as congratulations flooded in. ‘Congratulations to Shri DK Shivakumar Ji on taking oath as Chief Minister of Karnataka. Best wishes for his tenure. The Centre will work closely with the Karnataka Government for the welfare of the people,’ he said in a post on X. 



DK Shivakumar’s First Cabinet Decisions As Karnataka CM

In his first Cabinet meeting, just hours after taking office, DK Shivakumar unveiled a massive six point welfare and development plan that included free bus passes for students, a state run private employment exchange, the establishment of 10,000 youth clubs, and large investments in urban infrastructure. According to Shivakumar, his government would carry out the commitments made and mark the beginning of a new ‘Youth Era’ for Karnataka. The first significant pledges made by the new administration are decisions that show a renewed emphasis on public development, job creation, and safeguarding the welfare of the youth.
