Ajit Pawar, a senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the longest-serving Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, lost his life in a tragic plane crash on Wednesday in Baramati. He was 66 years old.
He was one of five people who died in the accident. A chartered Learjet 45, operated by Delhi-based VSR Ventures, caught fire while trying to land at Baramati Airport. The aircraft reportedly faced poor visibility during landing, which led to the crash.
Several members of the Pawar family have gathered at his residence ahead of the funeral. Among them are NCP-SP leader Supriya Sule and MLA Rohit Pawar, along with other relatives.
