LPG Cylinder Booking Rules October 2026: All LPG users in India need to be aware of certain major changes that will occur in the month of October 2026. In particular, there will be changes related to booking refill and subsidy qualification.

One of the main changes is the new Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA) policy, which states that any consumer must have his biometric details checked before he can book an LPG refill at the fixed RSP (Retail Selling Price) with the appropriate subsidy from October 1, 2026. There is now a minimum booking period of 25 days for all rural and urban domestic LPG consumers.

LPG Cylinder Booking New Rule From October 1, 2026

The refilling booking period is now standardized to be 25 days for LPG consumers in urban and rural settings alike. The previous system of booking gave the rural consumers 45 days of booking period, while the urban consumers had a 25-day booking period with the new development, both the urban and rural consumers now have the same booking period of 25 days. Consumers will need to keep an eye on the last refill date for their next booking.

LPG Aadhaar Authentication Rule: What Changes From October 1?

The bigger change from October 1 concerns Biometric Aadhaar Authentication.

According to the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, for booking subsidized LPG refill through the regulated RSP, consumers need to complete their BAA. Consumers who have already authenticated themselves do not require any re-authentication. By September 19, 2026, 27.43 crore active domestic LPG consumers (89.9%) had already completed their biometric authentication.

What Happens If LPG Consumers Do Not Complete Aadhaar Authentication?

A failure to go through the BAA process does not imply that the household is going to lose its entire supply of LPG. As has been noted by the government, consumers who fail to get authenticated can still get their LPG cylinders and however, they will not get them on subsidized rates and will have to purchase them at market rates. Consumers who are unable to go through the BAA process can still get their 5 or 10 kg cylinders under certain terms and conditions set by the oil marketing company.

How To Complete LPG Biometric Aadhaar Authentication

Consumers who have not completed BAA have several options.

The authentication can be completed:

  • During LPG delivery, with the delivery person using the oil marketing company’s mobile application.
  • At the LPG distributor’s showroom.
  • Through the official mobile application of the respective oil marketing company.

Indane customers can use the IndianOil ONE app, Bharatgas customers can use HelloBPCL and HP Gas customers can use the HP PAY app.

Consumers should use official LPG company channels and avoid sharing Aadhaar or banking information with unauthorised agents.

LPG Subsidy From October 2026: How Much Is It?

The amount of the subsidy due to LPG may vary based on changes in policies and the economic situation. According to the Ministry of Petroleum, the implicit subsidy rate was estimated at ₹210 per 14.2-kg LPG cylinder in September 2026, while the figure stood at ₹721 per cylinder in June 2026. The government added that it is paying ₹30,000 crore in compensations to PSUs involved in LPG marketing for the FY 2025-26 and FY 2026-27.

LPG Refill Booking: Can You Book Before 25 Days?

Consumers must adhere to the appropriate refill period and refrain from trying for further bookings until they become eligible. Due to the recent standardization of refill period, the 25-day period will be applicable to consumers in both rural and urban domestic segments. This may also vary depending on the booking practices of the respective oil marketing companies.

LPG Delivery and Authentication Rules

It is important for consumers to keep their mobile phone number registered as it will be used by LPG companies for communication in relation to booking and delivery. Biometrics authentication is also an option which could be performed during the delivery for those consumers who have not undergone biometrics authentication process.

LPG Booking Through Indane, Bharatgas and HP Gas

These reforms will be applicable to all the major domestic LPG network connections in the month of October. Users will need to make use of the respective authorised applications and websites, IVRS, WhatsApp service etc. The authentication via Aadhaar will require the usage of the OMC applications.

Consumers need to ensure they have the previous refill date handy along with the verification of BAA done and those that have already done their BAA need not do it again.

Consumers should also use the oil marketing company websites and government press releases for booking, validation and subsidy matters. The Ministry of Petroleum has also introduced a toll free helpline number for LPG at 1800-2333-555.
