Police officials said the man had arrived at the agency well before it opened to secure his place in the queue. However, he suddenly collapsed while waiting, leaving other residents shocked.

Police said he was standing 25th in the queue, while more than 130 people had gathered outside the agency by the time the incident occurred.

“Local shortages led to this tragedy,” Raman added.
He said Bhushan Kumar Mittal ran a small grocery shop in the village and had gone to the gas agency early in the morning to arrange a cylinder for his household.

Sehna station house officer Renu confirmed the incident and said Mittal collapsed shortly before the agency opened.
