Mumbai remains under a Yellow Alert on July 9 as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms, lightning, moderate rainfall and gusty winds across the city. While rain is expected to continue, authorities have not announced any school holiday for July 10, and educational institutions are expected to function normally unless fresh orders are issued. Since the IMD has downgraded Mumbai’s weather warning to a Yellow Alert, educational institutions are likely to operate as usual.
However, students and parents are advised to check updates from their respective schools, as local weather conditions may change and schools may issue separate advisories if required.
What Is Mumbai’s Weather Forecast For July 10?
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai is likely to witness thunderstorms with lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph. Although rainfall intensity is expected to reduce compared to the last few days, isolated areas could still experience heavy showers. Authorities have also warned about the possibility of waterlogging and flash flooding in vulnerable locations.
Which Districts Are Under Red And Orange Alerts?
While Mumbai remains under a Yellow Alert, the IMD has issued a Red Alert for Palghar, Raigad, Nashik, Pune and Satara, where extremely heavy rainfall is expected. An Orange Alert has also been issued for Mumbai suburbs and Thane, with forecasts of very heavy rainfall at isolated places. Residents in low-lying areas have been advised to remain alert as the risk of flash flooding continues due to continuous rainfall over the past few days.
Will Rainfall Reduce In Mumbai?
Private weather agency Skymet has said rainfall is likely to gradually reduce across parts of Maharashtra from July 9. According to the agency, no fresh monsoon system is expected to develop over the Bay of Bengal in the coming days, which could help ease the heavy rainfall experienced in Mumbai and nearby areas earlier this week.

Even though rainfall is expected to become less intense, authorities have advised people to remain cautious, especially in flood-prone areas. Residents should continue monitoring official weather updates and follow advisories issued by the IMD and local authorities before travelling.
