Mumbai is likely to witness a partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of light rain on Monday, July 13, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The weather department said the city is currently witnessing a brief pause in monsoon activity, although occasional showers are still expected. After recording no rainfall in the past 24 hours, the city is expected to see temperatures between 27°C and 33°C, while authorities have also issued a high tide advisory for coastal areas.Â
Mumbai Recorded No Rainfall In The Last 24 Hours
Despite being in the middle of the monsoon season, Mumbai recorded no measurable rainfall between 8 am on July 12 and 8 am on July 13. According to official data, rainfall in the city, eastern suburbs and western suburbs remained 0 mm during the period.
What Is Mumbai’s Weather Forecast Today?
The IMD has predicted that Mumbai’s maximum temperature will remain around 33°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to stay near 27°C. Colaba observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 27.8°C, while Santacruz observatory reported 27.4°C. The brief break in rainfall has also caused a slight increase in day and night temperatures.
High Tide Alert Issued For Mumbai
Mumbai is expected to witness a high tide of 4.53 metres at 11.14 am, followed by another high tide of 3.92 metres at 11.01 pm. The next low tides are expected at 5.12 pm and 5.10 am on July 14. Authorities have advised residents living in low lying and coastal areas to remain alert during high tide hours and monitor official weather updates.
Mumbai’s Water Stock Nears 50% Capacity
Mumbai’s seven lakes, which supply drinking water to the city, have reached 49.93% of their live storage capacity. According to the Hydraulic Engineer’s Department, the reservoirs currently hold 7,22,649 million litres (ML) of water. Among the lakes, Vihar Lake continues to overflow and remains at 100% capacity, while Tulsi Lake is nearly full at 99.25% capacity.
