Mumbai Weather Update (July 19, 2026): IMD Holds Yellow Alert for Financial Capital; Thunderstorms Likely – Check Minimum Temperature, Maximum Temperature & More

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has maintained its yellow alert for Mumbai & its suburbs, with high chances of rain during the evening & afternoon today. Residents have also been urged to stay away from beaches & plan any travel accordingly due to the ongoing weatjer conditions.

Mumbai Weather Update (July 19, 2026): Mumbai and its suburbs faced rain yesterday evening after mainly hot and humid weather this wek. But in its latest forecast, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has maintained its yellow alert for the financial capital, indicating that stormy weather could hit the city & its suburbs soon. 

Mumbai Weather Update: IMD’s Recent Forecast

After a heat spell took over, rains returned to Mumbai and its surrounding areas, including Palghar and Thane yesterday evening. Now, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has extended its yellow alert for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, which comes as a respite for residents who had to endure another heat spell. 

According to the forecast, the heavy rains will persist today as well. The IMD has hinted that thunderstorms with lightning, moderate to heavy localized spells of rain, and sharp gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph are all on the horizon today, with a drop in temperatures. However, high humidity (around 90%) will stay in the city. 

Mumbai Weather Update: Will the Financial Capital See Rain Today?

Yes, Mumbai will likely face rain again today. The financial capital will experience spells of downpour during the afternoon and evening. However, it will not be extreme enough to cause any flooding or disruptions.  

Mumbai Forecast for Next 6 Days 

Over the next 6 days, Mumbai’s weather will be mostly pleasant. Expect light rain until the weekend and after that, the skies will turn overcast with a strong likelihood of ‘scattered thunderstorms’. There will not be any noticeable temperature changes during this period.

  • Minimum temperature: 26°Celsius 

  • Maximum temperature: 29°Celsius 

Mumbai Weather Update: AQI Level

The current AQI level in Mumbai is 57, which is considered moderate (the range of 51-100 is categorised as moderate).The PM2.5 , levels, currently the main pollutant in the financial capital is at 14 µg/m³. However, this AQI is generally considered acceptable for most people, as it is not too severe.

Mumbai Weather Update: Weather Advisory 

Owing to the current weather conditions, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued an advisory, urged commuters to plan travel carefully due to a major high-tide event that could potentially cause waterlogged roads. Residents have also been urged to stay away from beaches, avoid parking their vehicles under trees and expect travel disruptions.
