The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2026 registration window has been extended, giving thousands of medical aspirants across India additional time to submit their application forms. The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced that candidates can now complete the registration process until March 11, 2026, following requests from students and education authorities.
The entrance exam serves as the main gateway for admission into undergraduate medical courses such as MBBS, BDS, and other allied healthcare programmes in India.
Earlier, the deadline for submitting the application form was March 8, 2026. However, many students faced difficulties completing their applications on time, prompting authorities to extend the deadline by three more days. The extension is expected to help candidates who could not register due to technical or connectivity issues.

The testing agency confirmed the revised schedule in an official notification issued to candidates.
“The last date for submission of Online Application Form for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test [NEET (UG)] – 2026 has been extended up to 11th March, 2026 (09.00 P.M.). The payment of fees can be made up to 11:50 PM on 11.03.2026,” the official circular stated.
“Candidates are advised to complete the form within the extended date and time. No further extension will be granted,” the notice added. Students who wish to appear for the exam can submit their applications through the official NEET portal.

Candidates planning to appear for the medical entrance exam must complete the online application process on the official website. The registration process includes filling in personal details, uploading documents, and paying the required fee.

NEET UG 2026: Why the Registration Deadline Was Extended?
The extension came after requests from students, particularly from the Kashmir Valley, who reported difficulties completing the application process due to slow internet connectivity.
Sakina Itoo, Education Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, thanked the central government for responding quickly to the request.
“Thankful to Hon’ble Union Minister of Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan for promptly considering our request and extending the NEET-UG 2026 application deadline by three days, now till 11th March,” she tweeted.
“This decision will greatly help many students from the Kashmir Valley who faced difficulties in submitting their forms due to internet speed limitations. Grateful for the timely support to ensure that no aspirant misses the opportunity,” she added.
The minister had earlier written to the Centre explaining that several students were struggling to complete their registrations because internet services in the region were limited to 2G speeds, which affected processes such as OTP verification and form submission.
She highlighted that the extension would ensure that no eligible candidate misses the opportunity to apply for the important medical entrance examination.
NEET UG 2026: Exam Date & Important Schedule
Along with the registration process, candidates should also keep track of other important dates related to the examination. The NEET UG 2026 exam is scheduled to be held on May 3, 2026, and will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode across exam centres in India.
