At the NXT Summit 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed growing concerns around energy security and the global fuel situation. He reassured citizens that India is actively managing the challenges arising from the ongoing global energy crisis and urged people not to panic about LPG availability.

Speaking during the summit, PM Modi said, “Some people are trying to create panic around LPG. While I do not wish to comment politically, such attempts are exposing themselves and causing significant harm to the nation.” He pointed out that conflicts taking place around the world, including a war in India’s broader region, have disrupted global energy supply chains, pushing many countries into a difficult energy situation.

The Prime Minister stated that periods of crisis test a nation’s strength and unity. “In such difficult circumstances, how we respond as a country is crucial.”

PM Modi urges collective action

Highlighting the importance of unity during challenging times, Modi said, “Crisis times are a test for the entire nation. We must deal with situations with calmness and patience, and everyone has a role to play.” He called on various sections of society—including political parties, the media, social organizations, industry leaders, youth, as well as people in villages and cities—to work together in addressing national challenges.

India’s strategy for energy security

The Prime Minister also outlined India’s broader approach to strengthening energy security. According to him, the government is focusing on two key priorities: expanding energy infrastructure to increase domestic access and promoting self-reliance in the energy sector to reduce dependence on external supplies.

He further noted that continuous efforts are being made in the petrol and diesel sectors to tackle supply disruptions and maintain a stable energy supply across the country.

Lessons from the pandemic

Recalling the country’s response during the COVID-19 pandemic, Modi said collective efforts significantly improved India’s ability to handle crises. “We’ve seen that when everyone works together, the country’s ability to overcome challenges increases exponentially. Today, the country faces another test, and we must fulfill our duties while keeping national interests paramount.”

The Prime Minister concluded by emphasizing that India continues to move forward despite global challenges. “India is moving ahead steadily even in adverse circumstances, and the world has great expectations from us.”
