Palghar School Holiday Tomorrow (July 8): Monsoon rains have caused another disruption of regular activities in Maharashtra, with Palghar being the most affected among other districts in Maharashtra. In light of constant heavy rains and a warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), all schools and colleges in the district have been directed to shut down on July 8.
This step is taken due to increasing worries regarding the safety of students in the region as waterlogging and flooding of roads and means of transportation are still going on in the district. As per the information from the IMD as 75% of India’s annual rainfall is due to southwest monsoon.

All Anganwadis, government and private schools, Zilla Parishad schools, municipal schools, aided and unaided schools, Ashram schools and coaching centers in Palghar will stay shut on July 8. As per an order passed out on Tuesday, District Collector and DDMA Chairperson Dr. Indu Rani Jakhad has ordered that all Anganwadi centers, government and private schools from Class I to Class XII, Zilla Parishad schools, municipal schools, aided and unaided schools, Ashram schools, colleges and educational institutions in Palghar district will be closed on July 8.

IMD has predicted the continuation of rains in the region of Palghar and also stated that there is a possibility of heavy rains in many parts of the region. According to weather scientists, there is a possibility of water logging due to saturated soil and also due to lack of proper drainage system which might cause the traffic flow to get delayed.
As far as IMD declaring a Red Alert for Palghar district is concerned, the situation is expected to be worse than that of districts declared an Orange Alert by the authorities. The residents of Palghar are thus warned not to go out and take notice of the prediction of extremely heavy rains in the district.
