The BJP led NDA government is expected to introduce five new Bills during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, which begins on Monday. The proposed legislation covers key areas such as foreign funding, education, taxation, MSMEs, birth registration and the judiciary. Apart from these, the government is also expected to take up several pending Bills during the session.
What Is The FCRA Amendment Bill About?
One of the key Bills on the agenda is the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill. The proposed law seeks to amend the FCRA Act, 2010, which regulates foreign donations and foreign hospitality received by organisations and individuals. According to the government, the amendments are aimed at ensuring that foreign funding does not affect national interest, public order or national security.
What Changes Are Proposed In Birth Registration Rules?
The Centre also plans to introduce a Bill to amend the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969. The proposed amendment aims to make the registration of births and deaths more stringent by revising provisions under Section 13(3) of the Act.
What Other Bills Are On The Government’s Agenda?
Apart from the FCRA Bill, the government is expected to take up:
•   Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025, after the Joint Parliamentary Committee submits its report.
•   Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, to replace the existing ordinance.
•   Income-Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026, aimed at strengthening India’s sovereign debt market and attracting global investments.
•   Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
•   A Bill to amend the MSME Development Act, 2006 to improve ease of doing business and reflect changes in the MSME sector.
What About The Delimitation And Women’s Reservation Bill?
The government’s current legislative agenda does not include the proposed delimitation package, which also contains the Nari Shakti Adhiniyam (Women’s Reservation Bill). According to sources, the package may be discussed separately during the session after further approval from the Union Cabinet. The Bill had earlier failed to pass in the Lok Sabha as it did not receive the required two-thirds majority needed for a Constitutional amendment.
