A private Cessna 208 Caravan crash-landed near Jalda, Rourkela, Odisha, injuring six people, all of whom sustained minor injuries and were hospitalized.

A small private plane heading to Rourkela made a crash landing in Sundargarh district of Odisha on Saturday, leaving six people injured. The aircraft, a Cessna 208 Caravan, was carrying four passengers and two pilots and was flying from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela when the incident occurred.
According to the Odisha government, “India One Air type of aircraft (Caravan 208) bearing Regn. VT-KSS was flying from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela. Departed at 12:27 hours. It had two pilots and 4 passengers. 8 Nautical miles short of reaching Rourkela, the aircraft force landed at a place near Jalda. Pilots have ensured the landing due to which lives have been saved.”
The crash happened near Jalda, about 10 kilometres from Rourkela. All six people onboard sustained minor injuries and were immediately attended to by rescue teams.
A video released by ANI showed firefighters and rescue personnel assisting passengers after the landing. Despite the impact, the aircraft’s structure remained intact, with no fire reported. However, the landing gear was damaged due to the rough touchdown.

Odisha’s Commerce and Transport Minister, B B Jena, told, “One A-1 nine-seater private flight carrying passengers has met with an accident. The passengers have sustained minor injuries and are stable. It took place at Jalda, 10 kilometres from Rourkela. By the grace of God, this is not a major accident.”
Prasanna Pradhan, director of Biju Patnaik International Airport, added, “The flight was on its way from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela. It made a crash landing 10 km before Rourkela. There were 4 passengers and 2 crew members. All are safe. The flight is India One Airlines. The flight number is C-208.”
The six injured passengers and crew members were immediately taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Local authorities have secured the crash site, and an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
