Rajasthan Election Result Live: Rajasthan’s urban political map began taking shape on Monday as votes were counted across 209 urban local bodies, putting the spotlight on the BJP, Congress and a large number of independent candidates competing for control at the ward level. Counting began at 8 AM on September 14, with results expected to emerge through the day.

The civic contest covers 10,167 wards and 38,889 candidates, making it one of the biggest local electoral exercises in Rajasthan in recent years. Voting took place in two phases on September 9 and 11. The first phase covered 162 urban bodies, while the second phase covered 147 bodies, including Jaipur Municipal Corporation and other major cities.

Rajasthan Election Result Live: BJP Takes Early Lead

The initial results have given the BJP an early advantage over the Congress. Out of 177 declared ward results, the BJP had won 92 seats, while the Congress had secured 58. Independent candidates had won 27 seats.

The early numbers will continue to change as counting progresses across the state, but the opening trend gives the ruling BJP an encouraging start in the battle for Rajasthan’s urban vote.

  • BJP wins 92 seats
  • Congress wins 58 seats
  • Independents win 27 seats

Jaipur Municipal Corporation Election Results 2026

Jaipur remains one of the biggest centres of attention in Monday’s counting. Results for the Jaipur Municipal Corporation and 18 other urban local bodies in Jaipur district are being processed at Shri Bhawani Niketan College of Pharmacy.

The counting arrangements include 15 rooms and 150 tables, with officials working to process the votes from Jaipur’s 150 municipal corporation wards along with other civic bodies in the district. The district has 2,644 candidates contesting 690 wards across its 19 urban local bodies.

Rajasthan Civic Poll Results: BJP, Congress And Independents Battle At Ward Level

Unlike Assembly elections, Rajasthan’s civic polls often produce a fragmented political picture because local issues, rebel candidates and independents can strongly influence individual wards.

The BJP and Congress entered the contest as the two main players, but independent candidates and smaller parties also remained important in several regions. Recent analysis of the campaign highlighted the role of rebel independents, particularly after both major parties faced competition from candidates who failed to secure party tickets.

The 77 candidates elected unopposed before polling also gave the BJP an early advantage. The BJP secured 44 of those seats, compared with 16 for the Congress, while 17 went to independents.

Rajasthan Urban Local Body Election 2026: High Turnout

Voters turned out in large numbers during both phases of the election. The second phase recorded around 70.7% turnout, while the overall turnout across the 309 urban bodies stood at roughly 73%.

The election also saw reports of EVM glitches, allegations of bogus voting and sporadic clashes in some areas. Despite those incidents, the high turnout reflected strong voter participation across Rajasthan’s urban centres.

Why Rajasthan Civic Poll Results Matter For BJP

For Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the civic results offer an important assessment of the BJP government’s performance since it came to power in the 2023 Assembly election.

The results will also test BJP state president Madan Rathore’s organisational strategy. A strong performance across urban wards would strengthen the party’s claim that its grassroots machinery remains effective beyond Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP has already secured a sizeable number of uncontested seats, and gains in the counting phase could further consolidate its position in Rajasthan’s urban political landscape.

Congress Faces Test Of Urban Organisation

The Congress is using the civic elections to demonstrate that it remains politically relevant in Rajasthan after losing power in the 2023 Assembly election.

The party’s performance will be closely watched in traditional Congress strongholds and in wards where local candidates have built their own voter bases. A strong result would give Congress workers a boost ahead of the 2028 Assembly election, while a weak showing could raise fresh questions about the party’s organisation at the grassroots level.

The contest has also drawn attention to smaller parties and independents, particularly in regions where local political equations differ sharply from the statewide BJP-Congress battle.

When Will Rajasthan Mayors And Chairpersons Be Elected?

The ward results will determine the composition of the civic bodies, but the election of their heads will take place later.

Rajasthan will elect mayors and chairpersons on September 21, followed by elections for deputy mayors, deputy chairpersons and municipal vice-presidents on September 22.

Early Rajasthan Election Results 2026

The first round of declared ward results has placed the BJP ahead of the Congress, although counting remains underway across hundreds of civic bodies.

As more ward-level results come in, the final picture will show whether the BJP can convert its early advantage into broader control of Rajasthan’s urban local bodies or whether the Congress and independents can narrow the gap during the remaining rounds of counting.
