Delhi Police have announced traffic restrictions and route diversions in parts of Central and New Delhi from January 19 to 21 due to Republic Day Parade rehearsals on Kartavya Path

Delhi Republic Day Parade 2026:  Delhi Police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of the Republic Day Parade rehearsals, announcing restrictions on vehicle movement in several parts of Central and New Delhi.

The rehearsals will take place on Kartavya Path from January 19 to January 21. During this period, the rehearsal route will stretch from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, with the full parade route covering Vijay Chowk to Kartavya Path up to C-Hexagon.

Republic Day Parade 2026: Delhi Police Issue Traffic Advisory

To ensure the smooth conduct of rehearsals, Delhi Police said traffic restrictions will be enforced at major intersections along Kartavya Path. These include Kartavya Path–Rafi Marg, Kartavya Path–Janpath, Kartavya Path–Mansingh Road, and Kartavya Path–C-Hexagon crossings.

The restrictions will remain in force between 10:15 am and 12:30 pm on all three days.

During this time, Kartavya Path between Vijay Chowk and India Gate will remain completely closed to vehicular traffic. Authorities have warned that traffic diversions will be implemented, and commuters may face congestion on nearby roads.

Suggested Routes for North–South Travel

For those travelling between North and South Delhi, motorists can use:

  • Ring Road via Sarai Kale Khan–IP Flyover–Rajghat

  • Lajpat Rai Marg–Mathura Road–Bhairon Road–Ring Road

  • Aurobindo Marg–Safdarjung Road–Kamal Ataturk Marg–Kautilya Marg–Sardar Patel Marg–Mother Teresa Crescent–RML–Baba Kharak Singh Marg

Suggested Routes for East–West Travel

For movement between East and West Delhi, commuters are advised to take:

  • Ring Road–Bhairon Road–Mathura Road–Subramaniam Bharti Marg–Rajesh Pilot Marg–Prithvi Raj Road–Safdarjung Road–Kamal Ataturk Marg–Panchsheel Marg–Simon Bolivar Marg–Upper Ridge Road/Vande Mataram Marg

Travel to Connaught Place and Central Secretariat

Motorists travelling from South Delhi towards Connaught Place or Central Secretariat may use:

  • Mother Teresa Crescent–Park Street–Mandir Marg/Baba Kharak Singh Marg

  • Ring Road–Vande Mataram Marg–Link Road–Panchkuian Road

Travel Towards Vinay Marg, Shanti Path and New Delhi

Those heading towards Vinay Marg, Shanti Path, or New Delhi and beyond are advised to take:

  • Sardar Patel Marg–Mother Teresa Crescent–RML roundabout–Baba Kharak Singh Marg

  • Park Street–Mandir Marg, and then continue towards North or New Delhi

Delhi Police have urged commuters to plan their journeys in advance, follow traffic advisories, and allow extra travel time to avoid inconvenience during the rehearsal days.
