Today is the first day of the Tamil Nadu Assembly after the new government was elected, and it is already in the limelight. This time, it is not Vijay, but the Leader of the Opposition, Udhayanidhi Stalin, who targeted Sanatan Dharma again.

While addressing the Assembly, junior Stalin raised his voice to eradicate Sanathanam. This comment came in front of the newly elected CM, making it interesting to see how Vijay would react to it.

In his speech, Stalin said, “Sanathanam, which separated people, should be eradicated.” Soon after he said these words, it sparked fresh political tension in the state, as the BJP accused him of spreading hate and insulting the religious harmony of Hindus.

This is not the first time Udhayanidhi has said something against Sanatan Dharma. In 2023, he compared it with dengue and malaria, which created another major controversy in the state.

Political Reaction to Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Sanatan Dharma Remarks

Soon after this clip went viral, BJP leader CR Kesavan shared his thoughts and issued a statement calling it a continuation of divisive politics. Kesavan called Udhayanidhi Stalin a Rahul Gandhi of Tamil Nadu. He said that just like Rahul Gandhi mocked the sacred Sengol, boycotted the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony, and failed to form the government in the last three Lok Sabha elections, the same applies to Udhayanidhi Stalin, who has been rejected by the people of Tamil Nadu but still continues with his toxic remarks.

“What better can you expect from the divisive DMK, which opposed the lighting of the Karthigai Deepam and whose CM never wished the people of Tamil Nadu on Deepavali. A DMK MP and former Union minister had outrageously remarked that Hinduism is a menace not only to India but to the entire world. These repeat offenders need to keep in mind that the state emblem of Tamil Nadu has a temple gopuram, and the people of Tamil Nadu will not forget nor forgive such flagrant abuse and insult of their faith and sentiments,” CR Kesavan added.

He also referred to the previous objections raised against lighting the Karthigai Deepam, the absence of Deepavali greetings from the former Chief Minister, and remarks made by a DMK MP about Hinduism. He said that such issues hurt religious sentiments.

What Udhayanidhi Stalin Said

Apart from raising his voice against Sanatan Dharma, the Leader of the Opposition also suggested that the government and opposition should work together for the development of Tamil Nadu. He said, “Yesterday, the CM came and received wishes from our leader and many others. That political civility should continue in this House as well. Even if we are on different sides as the ruling government and opposition party, we should all work together for Tamil Nadu’s development. This is also the wish of the people. The CM and the opposition leader studied at the same college. But in politics, we are seniors. We would like to share our experience and knowledge. You should also be ready to accept our suggestions.”

Junior Stalin also raised questions about the order of songs played during the swearing-in ceremony. He linked those songs to earlier disputes with former Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi.

He stated that Vande Mataram was played before the Tamil State Song, which raised concerns among the opposition regarding protocol and cultural respect.

He also stated that the Tamil State Song should never be pushed to second place. While speaking on the matter, he said, “Tamil state song was played at the third spot. Opposition parties have expressed concern. The ruling government gave clarification. In the West Bengal CM ceremony event, there was no Vande Mataram. But here it was played. You all know who the Governor is there. What he demanded when he was here as Governor. The government should not allow this to happen again. The Tamil state song should never be pushed to the second spot. We should protect our customs. After years, women legislators have come here. We are happy to see it. Congratulations. We will be a healthy opposition in Tamil Nadu.”

Udhayanidhi Stalin’s 2023 Anti-Hindu Speech

This is not the first time that Udhayanidhi Stalin made an anti-Hindu speech. On September 2, 2023, he compared Sanatan Dharma with mosquitoes, dengue, malaria, and corona. He did not just call for opposition to Sanatan Dharma but also for its eradication.

After the speech, he did not stop and shared a controversial post on X, claiming that Sanatan Dharma divides people in the name of caste and religion. He further stated that it is necessary to uproot Sanatan Dharma for humanity and equality.
