The incident took place around 10 am at Al-Hasnain Public School in Madala Fatehpur village, under the Asmoli police station area of Sambhal. The canopy above the school’s main gate suddenly collapsed while the Independence Day programme was underway. Children gathered nearby were caught beneath the debris, triggering panic on the premises. Locals and school staff immediately rushed to clear the rubble and rescue those trapped.
Who Were the Victims?
Six-year-old Nizam, son of Naeem, was among those trapped under the collapsed canopy. He was rushed to a government hospital but was later declared dead by doctors. Two other students, 11-year-old Saif Ali, a Class 7 student, and 10-year-old Shaidana, a Class 5 student, were injured in the accident. Both were taken to the hospital and later referred to the district hospital for further treatment.
What Happened After the Collapse?
Following the incident, bystanders and people at the school quickly removed the fallen debris and rescued the children. The injured students were taken to a government hospital for immediate medical attention. Doctors declared Nizam dead after he was brought to the hospital. The two injured children were subsequently referred to the district hospital for further treatment, according to Station House Officer Sudhir Panwar. The death of the young student cast a shadow over Independence Day celebrations in the village, leaving his family and the local community in grief.
Officials Reach the Spot
The administration moved swiftly after receiving information about the incident. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Circle Officer (CO) and Station House Officer (SHO) reached the school to assess the situation. Later, at around 11:25 am, District Magistrate Ankit Khandelwal, Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Bishnoi and Basic Shiksha Adhikari Alka Sharma also visited the site. Officials inspected the location and took stock of the situation. Police said that the injured children had been shifted to the hospital for treatment, while further legal proceedings were being carried out.
