Hyderabad: A terrifying incident took place in Telangana’s Rangareddy district, where a 28-year-old man named Raj Kumar allegedly killed six people early on Saturday (July 10). According to the officials’ report, the victims included his own wife Saritha (33) and their two young sons (aged four and two), as well as a 17-year-old girl, her 45-year-old mother, and her 65-year-old grandmother. Authorities have described the killings as an act of revenge by the accused. The following incident occurred days after Kumar was released on bail in a POCSO case involving a minor girl.

Telangana Murder Case:  Who Was Raj Kumar and What Was His Recent Legal Background?

Raj Kumar was arrested on May 16 under the POCSO Act for allegedly sexually assaulting the 17-year-old girl, who was the complainant in that case. He was granted bail a couple of days before the murders. He lived in the area with his wife and children. According to police, after the recent bail, he carried out the multiple killings in a targeted manner.

How Did the Murders Unfold?

Preliminary investigations suggest Kumar first murdered his wife and two children at his own residence. He then went to the minor girl’s house, where he tried to forcibly take her away. When her mother and grandmother intervened to stop him, he allegedly stabbed both women to death. Kumar then took the 17-year-old girl to a spot near Akhil Sagar lake on the outskirts of Daivalaguda, where he killed her by slitting her throat. There were signs of sexual assault on the girl, though it is still being determined if rape occurred before the murder.

What Led to the Crime and What Is the Current Situation of the Case?

The murders appear to have been driven by revenge. Police believe Kumar targeted the girl and her family due to the POCSO case filed against him, in which she was the complainant. After the killings, Kumar called his father, Arun Kumar, confessed to the crimes, and said he planned to end his own life. His father immediately alerted the police.
