Panic broke out after a rumour about electric current in the barricades, triggering a sudden rush and leaving several devotees injured.
The incident occurred near Harsiddhi Chauraha, where the crowd had gathered while waiting to move towards the temple. As devotees tried to move away amid the panic, crowd pressure increased, and barricades reportedly collapsed.
Around 13 devotees were injured and taken to Charak Hospital for treatment, while police and district officials reached the spot to bring the situation under control.

Officials later worked to control the movement of devotees and restore order. The temple administration disputed descriptions of the incident as an actual stampede and described the situation as a panic-driven crowd surge.

Around 13 devotees were reported injured in the incident. Some people also reportedly fainted or fell ill because of the intense crowd pressure. The injured included devotees who became trapped against or underneath barricades as the crowd moved suddenly.
One devotee, Sagar, said he had spent several hours in the queue before reaching Harsiddhi Chauraha. “I was in the queue at Mahakal Mandir for the darshan. After 7-8 hours, I reached Harsiddhi Chauraha. We stood there for 2 hours. The crowd was swelling, and since it was time for the aarti, we were stopped there,” he told the news agency.
He said the situation changed after the barricades opened. “Suddenly, the barricades were opened, and a stampede broke out. The tent fell, and all barricades fell too. Both of my legs were caught under the barricade. One of my legs is fractured,” he said.

Emergency teams and people present at the site helped move injured devotees away from the crowded area. The injured were taken to Charak Hospital for treatment. Senior administrative and police officials also reached the location and monitored the rescue and crowd-control operation.
The authorities subsequently brought the immediate situation under control. Another devotee, identified as Meenu, described how her son became trapped during the rush near Harsiddhi Chauraha.
“This occurred at Harsiddhi Chauraha. He came under a barricade when he was going for a darshan at Nath Chandreshwar Mandir. A stampede had broken out there. Nobody helped him. Only one man carried him here,” she said.
