Uttarakhand Weather Alert: Uttarakhand has been facing turbulent weather this month. Now, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has cautioned of heavy rainfall & released orange alerts for 4 districts in the state. 

Uttarakhand Weather Alert: IMD’s Latest Forecast 

In its latest forecast, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued its orange alert for five districts in Uttarakhand. The forecaster has placed some districts of the state on high alert & others in a moderate risk category. An active wet spell will prevail in the state until tomorrow. There is also a moderate likelihood of landslides, mud slides & flash floods in the high-risk districts. 

Uttarakhand Weather Alert: Flash Floods Likely In Many Districts 

IMD’s flash flood risk bulletin was for the entire state. Flash floods are likely in Dehradun, Nainital & 10 other districts. Some regions like Dehradun, Bagheshwar, Nainital and Haridwar will face heavier rainfall as compared to others

Due to the current weather conditions, people in Uttrakhand have been advised to: 

• Maintain a strictly safe distance from all water bodies, due to high water levels. 

• Check localized police traffic advisories before taking critical mountain corridors due to widespread rockfalls and slippery surfaces 

• Keep an emergency bag ready with a torch, power banks, dry food, and medicines in case there are any power cuts.

• Relocate to higher floors or higher ground immediately if water starts rising in your area. 

• Pack your essentials & evacuate immediately if the local village pradhan or district administration advises it.
