A major food safety violation has been spotted in Gujarat’s Mehsana district, after authorities seized and then destroyed over two tonnes of rotten mangoes, which were also worm infested, being pushed into commercial juice making. This was conducted during a raid done by the Mehsana Food and Drug Department at a warehouse that Patidar Ras Kendra runs, a wholesale mango supplier, placed in Mahadev Industrial Park close to Nugar village. Officials said those fruits were not fit for people to eat, and that they could create a real health risk. The authorities destroyed the seized stock along with the mango juice that was already prepared, inside the same facility, so nothing could reach the market.

What Happened Here?
The raid happened after the food safety authorities got a tip off, the usual kind of lead. Food Safety Officer VJ Chaudhary along with his team carried out a sudden inspection of the warehouse, and there they found big stocks of decaying mangoes kept for processing. Most of the fruits, as per reports, were said to be worm infested and one could see clear spoilage marks, maybe even more than expected. During the action, officials seized and then destroyed 2,025 kilograms of those rotten mangoes. On top of that, about 230 grams of mango juice made from the stock was also thrown away. The authorities have started more probing into how this facility is being run, and they are checking if the food safety norms were breached.
Peak Summer And Mango Season India
This incident has brought up worries about food quality requirements during the peak summer season, when interest in mango based drinks stays pretty high all over the country. Food safety specialists have said again and again that strict checks and consistent compliance rules matter a lot, so contaminated or below par items don’t end up in people’s hands. The situation also points to a wider issue, how hard it is to track food production and the whole distribution web, especially since millions of people depend on fruit juices and seasonal refreshments in these hot months. Authorities have repeated that firm measures will be used against any business that, by cutting corners, risks public health, and they have asked shoppers to stay alert while buying food and drink items, even if it looks normal.
