Weather Today (01 March 2026): As March begins, India is already experiencing the heat with temperatures crossing the usual temperatures for the season in most states. The India Meteorological Department has reported that Northwest and Central India are experiencing temperatures between 34°C and 37°C, indicating that the pre-summer season could be challenging for the country where people should drink more water and exercise caution in the scorching heat.
According to the IMD, the country is likely to experience a warmer-than-average March. In most parts of the northern and central regions, the temperatures during the day will remain between 30-38°C with some areas experiencing an increase of 5-10°C above the normal temperatures due to the lack of cloud formation and rainfall.
The plains will remain dry, but the hill states in the Himalayas may receive occasional rain or snowfall, especially in the higher reaches. In Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the day temperatures will rise to 18-24°C while the night temperatures will fall to 0-8°C in the higher reaches.
