West Bengal Election Results Live Update: Will Suvendu Adhikari be the Next CM?

The BJP hasn’t officially confirmed any official names for the Chief Minister post in West Bengal. But according to reliable sources, Suvendu Adhikari is most likely to be the next Chief Minister of West Bengal.

In the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections, Adhikari won from two constituencies: Nandigram and Bhabanipur. It is worth noting that he defeated three time chief minister Mamta Banerjee from Bhabanipur in the recent elections.

Will West Bengal Get Two Deputy Chief Ministers?

During the 15 years of Trinamool Congress’ rule, West Bengal didn’t have anyone in the deputy Chief Minister post. But according to multiple unconfirmed reports, BJP will most likely appoint not one but two deputy chief ministers from the state.

This would be similar to the aftermath of 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, where Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma were both appointed as deputy Chief Ministers. Sharma, was later replaced by Brijesh Pathak for unknown reasons. Back in West Bengal, there hasn’t been a deputy Chief Minister since 1995, when Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee of CPI (M) took on the mantle.

Who Will be the Deputy Chief Ministers? (Expected Names)

Agnimitra Paul, is the leading candidate for the former race. While the other post of deputy Chief Minister will most likely go to Shankar Ghosh, who won from Siliguri constituency.
