Jhalmuri, the Bengali street snack that unexpectedly became a political talking point during the TMC-BJP election battle, took centre stage at the oath-taking ceremony of West Bengal’s first BJP government on Saturday.
The BJP arranged around 20 jhalmuri stalls across the Brigade Parade Ground in central Kolkata, while local vendors outside the venue also witnessed heavy crowds. Hundreds of supporters queued up to enjoy the puffed rice snack mixed with chillies, spices and mustard oil as celebrations unfolded in the ground.
